FAQ’s

Why should I hire James’ Kitchen and Bathroom Resurfacing?

We are committed to offering the best in service for all of our clients. After years in the business, we understand what it takes to meet our clients’ needs and exceed their expectations.

Many resurfacers throughout Australia fail to meet the high standards, but we are committed to our customers and to giving them the best quality service every time. As a family business, we have no franchise affiliations, and that allows us to keep our costs low. We are also able to stay up to date with the latest information and use the most advanced products without any franchise interference.

Will the product resist heat? It is very strong? Does it crack or yellow over time?

The product we use is called Poly-Glass polyeurethane, and it is extremely resilient to cracking that would normally be caused by expansion or contraction of materials as the temperature changes. It does not crack or turn yellow over time, unlike the motor vehicle materials and epoxy that is often used by our competition. It is resistant to staining and holds its colour well.

Do you use paint in your resurfacing?

No, we use a glossy coating known as Poly-Glass, and it is specifically designed to be used in bathroom and kitchen surfaces.

Do I need to be concerned about any harmful fumes or damage to my other surfaces?

We use low VOC products, meaning they contain few volatile organic compounds. The products we use have been approved under the USA EPA Clean Air regulations, so you can trust that they are safe. Some volatile products take up to 24 hours to cure, and you don’t want them releasing fumes into your home during that period, potentially causing damage to yourself, your children and your home. Our product’s curing time is only 2-4 hours, and that is unmatched by other products on the market today. We use a masking film over any surfaces that are not being resurfaced, and our high-volume, low-pressure spray method used helps to keep a balance between the quality finish we are going for and the atomisation. Resurfacing this way helps to cut down on the overall level of fumes in your home.

Resurfacing also saves you some money, as it can cost up to 70% less to resurface than to go with a remodel. Plus, you’ll be helping to save the environment.

Will the new surface be long-lasting?

Once we resurface your kitchen or bathroom, the new surface will likely last longer than the existing surface. We guarantee our work for 3-5 years and provide that guarantee for you in writing.

Will the new finish on my bathtub be different from my original finish?

The Poly-Glass finish we provide looks and feels like a new tub and bonds directly to your bathtub.

Will it be harder to clean?

Once we have resurfaced for you, you will have an easier job of cleaning. You won’t have to clean between the grooves of the grout, as there will be a strong film over the grout lines and porous areas. You can clean with a simple detergent and won’t need any bleach or other abrasive cleaner. So, your grey water will be cleaner and have fewer toxins as a result, benefiting the environment.

Are resurfacing and reglazing the same thing?

Both terms describe the same method of prepping and refinishing laminate, tile, or porcelain in either the kitchen or bathroom.

Which surfaces can this be used on?

We are able to resurface just about any kind of material, such as laminate, tiles, and timber. We are unable to resurface toilet bowls, however.
